Summer in a Library Carrel
Sometime this weekend, I will receive my three preliminary examination questions - you know, the ones that (upon passing) allow you to move from PhD student status to PhD candidate status (w00t!).
I know different schools have different formats for these things, but ours work something like: three questions, take home, 8 weeks to write. Since it isn’t a cram 3-day writing binge like some prelims, the writing samples are expected to be more comprehensive and much more polished.
This, for me, means “bye bye” social media. For 8 weeks at least.
But, never fear friends and faithful, this Tumblr will not lie dormant during that time. I will be turning the keys (err…passwords) to my social media accounts over to Bloom County, aka Raina and Dave. They will have full run of the place, and I expect entertaining results. Also, if you spot me around town (in those fleeting moments where I will not be in my library carrel) or have a cocktail that the world just has to know about or happen to catch any awesome glam tribute acts in my absence, feel free to submit them, and the Blooms will see that they get posted.
That also means that this is basically my last week on Tumblr for the bulk of summer. What should I do with it?
