oh my god it's windy and sunny

Hey! Powderhorn24 is this Friday and Saturday! Look at the sweet spoke card Ben made for our team!
If you are in Minneapolis, you really should stop by at some time between 7 PM on Friday and 7 PM on Saturday to check out the fun and cheer some racers on. (Fwiw, if you’re a night owl, I’ll be riding the 1 AM - 3 AM shift, if you’re not, I’ll be back at it in the early afternoon on Saturday. In the meantime, I’ll be bumming around on the greenway near Freewheel if you want to just swing by to say hi!)
Real Talk: this is one of those types of events that, for those who haven’t been around it before, generally elicits some casual head nods and maybe a few raised eyebrows BUT BUT BUT once you get near it the whole thing becomes infectious and you just want to be involved/around/cheering/drinking/celebrating your city/riding your bike. It is super great, and you really should stop by! Here is the course if you just want to pick a place to park yourself and cheer, otherwise most of the action will be in front of the Freewheel Midtown. If you want more info, hit me up in the ask box and I’ll pass it along!

If you see a guy on the trails today wearing a bike jersey that features a dragon*, say “hello!” Or don’t. Whatever. I’m not the boss of you.
*A dragon that is, apparently, both breathing fire and fighting fires. Yeah, I don’t get it either.

Prairie bike riding thrill: getting passed by a semi going 55+ mph in a no pass zone on a two lane county road with no shoulder. I am going to go clean my cycling shorts now, brb.

Please note the name of today’s prairie bike ride route. It was the most accurate description I could come up with. I’ll try to not get shot or hit by a wicked hook off the number nine tee.

Held up on the prairie for a couple weeks, and desperately want to get some long rides in on my bike, but it is the prairie so, you know…wind. Currently: 76 degrees with 19 mph winds out of the south and gusts up to 31 mph.

I am going to regret this.

I am, admittedly, a newbie when it comes to biking winter, and I also recognize that it has been a pretty mild winter for biking so far, but…

…can I just take a second to tell you how awesome baby changing stations in public bathroom stalls are for helping one change into and out of winter biking gear? Real awesome, that is how awesome.

Oh, and apologies in advance to any babies who have to wait to get their diaper changed because I am swapping out my CLIMALITE for an actual t-shirt.

GPOY - First long ride of the year down. Thank you, Milwaukee weather, for finally staying sunny and dry for long enough so that I could achieve this.

Blergh. I normally don’t bike when the temps are below 40 but a;lksdgajl I am so sick of not being on my bike. I got a tune-up and new fenders two weeks ago and have only been out once since. Shame.

Fuck it and fuck the next 10 days of high-20s to mid-30s weather. I am biking to work.

Biking season starts now. Sorry if you’re behind the curve, WEATHER.
