so the bar i was in tonight did not have the DNC on though last week at the same time it had the RNC on (albeit closed captioned). fwiw, i happen to know that the owner of the bar leans right.
and this is part of the problem: too often, the logic of private enterprise trumps the civic spirit so thoroughly that a bar* won’t even dedicate one of its more than half a dozen televisions to a closed captioned broadcast of another political party’s convention.**
*DON’T FORGET THAT PEOPLE USED TO GET TO VOTE IN BARS
**just go ahead and pull the “it’s a private business they can do what they want” argument on me and i will take YOU DIDN’T BUILD THAT to a whole other you-didn’t-build-this-thumb-that-is-now-jammed-into-your-eye-socket-but-here-we-are level i swear
