1. My feelings about the fact that the Tip Top Tavern (which is ~6 blocks from where I live in Madison) is being revamped by folks involved with Mickey’s and Lazy Jane’s can be summarized as “EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!”
2. I want to share this sentence from the article:

For reference: Grampa’s Gun Shop = actual gun shop. More specifically: actual gun shop on the hippiest street in the hippiest neighborhood of, arguably, the crunchiest city in Wisconsin.
In other words, it’s a hippie ethos for the 21st century I can actually get behind: LESS GUNS. MORE PIZZA.

diss/inversion
A few weeks ago, a began a new blog for reflecting on my dissertation process: diss/inversion. I held off telling too many folks about it until I had finished a short series of introductory posts, but - as of last week - they have all been rolled out, so I figured it was time to make an announcement.
This blog is an effort to capture the “life” of the dissertation process, both in terms of the life of the person writing it and the formal or informal influences that shape its progress. Ultimately, it’s about inverting the experience - by articulating and preserving features of a dissertator’s journey that would otherwise remain unseen, I hope to learn something about the process, my own ideas, and - most importantly - myself.
Anyway, if you’re curious or sympathetic or simply derive pleasure from watching people torture themselves, feel free to check it out.
This is the announcement for a new blog I’ve started documenting my life as a dissertator. It’s meant to be a loose, experimental place - a place for exploring those creative impulses and personal reflections the writing of a dissertation can spark, but ultimately can’t contain.
